I can't decide whether I should or not.

I don't actually use this blog anymore. I would say that it serves less purpose than ever, but it didn't really serve one at any point prior to now either. Therefore, what's the point paying for this placeholder? On the other hand, it's not like it's expensive to keep around.

I could actually start posting here again, but I've said that countless times before and haven't followed through. I should probably feel bad about letting my readers down. (That was joke. Ha. Ha.)

If I made an effort to post again, I suppose it would be worthwhile to try to gain some sort of audience. I can't remember how that's done anymore, though.

So what's my point here?

Do the two or three of you lurking bastards, the remains of the Shitty Blogs Club, have any suggestions?

Here's the Senate Bill:

TEXT of Senator DeMint’s bill to Repeal ObamaCare:
To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REPEAL.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the amendments made by that Act, are repealed.

I'd be lying if I said their outrage didn't amuse me.

When these attempts fail, what will they do next? Secede?

I'm still unclear on what rights and liberties are lost by enacting this bill.

To be fair, I'm not impressed with the mandate to buy insurance from private companies. I still think that aspect is a mistake, but maybe it will provide an opportunity for something better in the future. The bill should have, minimally, included a public option. Unfortunately the Democrats gave up on that early in the process.

Single-payer was never an option, though it should have been.

Maybe we'll get that in another 103 years.

Well, this is just <s>retarded</s> Palin-American:

NEW YORK – On the heels of health care, a new Harris poll reveals Republican attitudes about Obama: Two-thirds think he's a socialist, 57 percent a Muslim—and 24 percent say "he may be the Antichrist."

...

"high percentages of Republicans—and Americans overall—believe that President Obama is "racist," "anti-American" "wants the terrorists to win" and "wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one-world government."

Source: Opinion: Scary new GOP poll

These beliefs would be laughable if the percentages and overall stupidity levels weren't so high. What world do these people live in? Are there broad swaths of the American public that drink gasoline and eat lead-based paint chips for dinner?

Additional findings include:

45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president" [and] 38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did"

I wonder, are these people so far off the deep end that they'll never be able to come back?

Do the even know what they're mad about?

Clearly, calling them retarded and stupid isn't enough or nice, even if it is gratifying.

I didn't smoke most of yesterday, but caved and had a few last night. I didn't buy a new pack. I had an unfinished one I bought earlier. Knowing they're in the house makes them difficult to resist and throwing them away is a waste of money. I only have two left. I might as well smoke them.

I had to run some errands yesterday, which included going to the bank. Half of a day without smoking, driving and dealing with the line of people at the bank is not conducive to smoking cessation. It is, however, conducive to rage. And lots of it. I was chewing gum--regular, not the nicotine variety--as a substitute for cigs. I was chewing so hard at one point, I thought my jaw was going to snap.

Gum substitution does not work well with coffee. The tastes clash horribly. Cigarettes, on the other hand, compliment black coffee extremely well. And, I drink a lot of coffee.

I'm totally fucked.

Holy shit, it's a new fucking year. Do I have to make resolutions? Is that what people do for a new year? They take stock of their stupid lives and try to do things differently based on some vaguely sensed need for self-improvement?

I've been contemplating quitting smoking, until I run out of cigarettes. And then I buy a new pack. I'm not really concerned with the health issues. But goddamnit smoking is a fucking expensive hobby.

I thought about starting running again too. I ran for a little while but quit over a year ago. Unsurprisingly quitting running and starting smoking happened together. Can these really work together? Exercise is boring.

I briefly considered eating healthier meals. Then I realized I would have to cook more often than I do and that seemed sucky. Way sucky. Plus, healthy includes a wide range of foods I consider to be disgusting.

Maybe I should buy fewer comics, or at least spend less on them.

I seriously need to establish a schedule of some kind. The problem is, I'm a late night sort of person. I hate the morning. I hate waking up and having to go somewhere. I hate following a pace and routine set by other people. So, what really needs to happen is the rest of the world just needs to adjust their schedule to mine.

I need to write more, both here on this shitty shitty blog and in real life. Thing about the real life writing is, people are waiting to read that shit. I guess I should get off of my lazy, procrastinating ass. This blog? Not so much. Honestly, you couldn't pay me to read this shit.

Let's see. What else is there? Oh. If I cut down on my coffee drinking, I'd get more sleep. But fuck that.

Here's a largely irrelevant quote:

the arbitrary border stands
a line of blood through stolen lands
that little flag upon your sleeve
shows off you're stupid and naïve
or maybe you believe the lies
through beady ignoramus eyes
it's no surprise you're outta luck
your mama raised a stupid fuck
oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
we'll all sleep when we're dead

So I'm traveling today, which means I was busy all day yesterday doing a bunch of last minute shit. I did manage to buy my comics, but I didn't read any. Well, that's not exactly true. I read the 80 Page Giant Batman. It was pretty good if you wanted to read a bunch of mediocre stories set in Gotham without Batman in them. Okay, one included Batman and Robin. Batman showed up in a panel of another. Regardless, none of these stories did much for me and I could have gone without reading them. The art was okay in a few stories.

Here's what I bought. Except for Azrael #3, which didn't ship. That's okay though. Azrael sucks. In fact it may be the suckiest book I purchase.

You know what sucks even worse? I won't get to pick up anything new until 12/31. I can feel myself going through withdrawal already.

Put that Bacinator down...

For over 30 years bakers in Zanesville, members of Bakers Local 57 have produced all the buns for Wendy's. They've had a decent relationship with management and have supported their families with good paying jobs, health care and have retired with real pensions. They've been a solid support for the Zanesville community, paying taxes, supporting local schools, etc. When Dave Thomas started Wendy's, it was a local, family owned business, with decent food at fair prices that treated its workers decently. Now all that is changing, due to an epidemic of corporate greed.

Recently, Wendy's was taken over by another corporate giant; Arby's. Not content with the massive profits they're now making, Arby's has issued demands that the workers in Zanesville give up their health care, one vacation week and job rights. Even worse, they are stealing the retiree's health care and wiping out all pensions for new retirees.

"This is just outright corporate greed at its most vicious, and this at holiday time," stated Bakers Union Business Agent Vester Newsome. "We need to stand together and draw a line somewhere to protect regular working families. We're going to stand up for justice and we ask the public to stand with us!"
