Since I accidentally re-upped this domain for another year not too long ago, I guess I should keep posting stuff. By accidentally re-upping, I mean that my godaddy.com account is set to automatically renew whenever the fuck this domain expires. I guess I should pay attention to those godaddy emails rather than just deleting them.
So, I'm going to make an effort to get my money's worth in blogging. Since absolutely no one but spambots read this is blog, it really doesn't matter what I write. Also posting nonsense here will give me another way to procrastinate, which is always good.
Yeah, I'm still buying comic books. So what? The comic book shop I was buying at quit selling new issues. They're doing trades, back issues and other stuff now. That sucks because they were nearby. On the upside, the new place I'm using gives a 15% discount if you use Comixology, which I do anyway. So that's good. The downside is that it's forever away from my place.
Anyway, here's what I bought this week. (Bought may or may not mean "wasted money on".)
Since there are spoilers in this post, you have to click to the Continue Reading... link to get the rest. Yeah, I know there's no one reading.
Adventure Comics #2: There main story, Superboy, was meh. The Superboy/Wonder Girl part was kinda boring, I thought. The Brainiac/Luthor parts were decent though, especially these too panels:

The idea of Luthor enjoying all of the negative happenings lately made me smile.
Blackest Night: Batman #2 (of 3): I'm still on the fence with Blackest Night. I don't really dislike any of it and there are parts I'm enjoying. It's certainly entertaining to watch the Black Lanterns do their thing. There's a ton of stuff (battles) going on, it seems, and I have a hard time remembering who is fighting where and doing what from month to month. Still, it's pretty good and the outcome of this whole arc is going to determine whether all of this was worth the time and money. Frankly, I hope the multiple Lantern Corps don't stick around forever. I guess we'll see. This was decent, especially with the BL Graysons and Drakes showing up to visit Batman (Dick Grayson) and Red Robin (Tim Drake). Commissioner Gordon was off panel so I guess he didn't hear who their parents are? You'd think the people of Earth would be worn out from all of this carnage, especially with the Blackest Night events coming right after a worldwide anti-life infection. It's a wonder everyone isn't a raving lunatic or catatonic.
Green Lantern Corps #40: Another Blackest Night issue with plenty of fighting going on on Oa. There were two parts I liked here. One scene was Salaak putting the Alpha Lanterns in their place as he assumes control in the Guardians' absence. It needed to happen and needs to happen more often. The other was Salaak's order not to recruit any more Green Lanterns or construct new rings during the ongoing Blackest Night crisis. I'm guessing this could easily lead to the GLC's numbers being diminished quickly. On the upside, Mogo will have a nice collection of green rings.
Red Robin #4: Red Robin. It sounds like he should be a communist version of Robin. He isn't. It's just Tim Drake hunting for Bruce Wayne as he believes Bruce isn't dead following the events of Final Crisis. Of course, we know he's not. He's just been Omega Sanctioned. In this issue, TIm finds some cave drawings of the Bat symbol similar to the ones Bruce is drawing at the end of the Final Crisis #7. Of course, he and his allies from the League of Assassins are then promptly shanked by a nobody. Since this isn't the final issue of Red Robin, we can assume Tim is still alive. Personally, I hope Bruce Wayne isn't back in a year. I'm enjoying Dick Grayson as Batman, especially in Batman and Robin. I don't think we'll get ~20 years without Bruce as with the death of Barry Allen after Crisis on Infinite Earths. Could we have 5 though? I'm not sure how this issue fits into the Blackest Night timeline since Red Robin shows up in BL: Batman #2. Was BN: Batman #2 pre or post shanking? Couldn't Tim come up with a better identity than Red Robin?
Secret Six #13: Secret Six is one of the best comics put out by DC. When a new issue of Secret Six comes out, it's the first thing I read. Continuing from the last issue, things have fallen apart for the Secret Six team (again) with Scandal Savage, Bane and Jeannette on one side (joined by Artemis) and Catman, Deadshot and Ragdoll on the other with the Devil's Island crew. There's also a defeated and unconscious Wonder Woman, a bunch of imprisoned Amazons responsible for the Washington DC attack in Amazons Attack and a monster that's going to kill everyone. The best parts were Deadshot imagining killing everyone in the room because he's bored, Scandal Savage's recollection of a piece of her childhood, Scandal giving the island's security guards a few seconds to pray or call a loved one before she kills them all, and Ragdoll trying on an unconscious Wonder Woman's clothes because, well, he's just a freak like that. In case you don't know, Secret Six aren't good guys.
Superman: World of New Kryption #7 (of 12): Superman is still spending most of his time on New Krypton trying to avoid an all out war with Earth. He brings back Zod's assassin in enough time to argue against going to war at the New Krypton council and to receive a promotion to General by a still wounded Zod. Apparently the Kryptonians are also stealing a moon from Jupiter because they need one for tides on New Krypton. They're an industrious people. Of course, that doesn't go as planned as the Thangarians show up and space violence ensues. General Kal-El takes his Kryptonian crew to deal with the issue. All in all, it wasn't bad. I've been enjoying the Superman books, including this one. Guess we'll see where this all goes soon.
So that's what I wasted my money on this week. I was going to scan some more images, but decided against it. Why? The same reason I didn't carefully proofread this post. Because I'm lazy. That's why.

You'd be surprised to find that some of us are still here to read your "shit" :P
Yep, I'm still here. From way back when. When you started the SBC. When we both posted at least once a day. And so on.
Only DC Comics? I tried following one of their arcs and gave it up as a bad job. I've settled on Marvel alone for now.
Re: normal people in a comic-world constantly afflicted by destruction - I was actually thinking the same thing. And I'm going to write a post about it.

Hi SEV. Thanks for reading. I still read (lurk) yours too. You're one of the few working rrs feeds left from the old SBC days. Sorry I don't comment. I should be better about that.
I used to read some Marvel back in the day, but don't since I restarted collecting a while back. Right now it's more a matter of not wanting to get sucked into buying another 20 titles to keep up on another comic universe. DC keeps me busy enough. That and I don't know the characters as well.
I'm thinking it would suck pretty hard to live in a comic universe. Sure there's people with cool powers, but every week (day?) it's another epic tragedy caused by superpowered villians, evil aliens, freaks from other dimensions, malevolent gods, etc. Seems like you'd be a mental case after a while. Then again, maybe that's why Gotham, for example, is such a hellhole.

dude, we have like the same list.
blackest night is dragging on forever. blackest night #3 got a little homoerotic between flash and green lantern and made me feel uncomfortable.
I dig the red robin series. i even like batgirl and detective comics nowadays.
ultimate avengers reboot is also decent.

I'm posting my list from this week later today.
I agree on Blackest Night. Seems like we've had nothing but big battle scenes with little plot movement for months, including a lot of the lead-in stuff. That conversation was weird and oddly placed. With all of these lantern corps, maybe they're turning into the care bears so something.
Don't know that much about Avengers. Maybe I'll check it out. Isn't Ultimates Marvel's more adult line?
Agreed about the Bat titles.

Blackest Night: Titans is unreadable. I met the writer for the series two weeks ago, and he signed my book, but I didn't have the heart to tell him that it blew.
I'm not sure what's going on with Blackest Night. I want it to be good, but they shot their wad with all the people coming back as unkillable zombies. There's no way to go buck ridiculous in order to stop them. Atom is a douche, and I'm not a fan of the indigo lanterns. It seems contrived and not well fleshed out. I still like Hal Jordan, and will continue to read the Green Lantern series, but I'm hoping Blackest night gets resolved soon and they brink back batman like they are supposed to.
Ultimate is probably geared more towards adults, but it's also more "real", I guess. There are limits to superpowers, with Hulk being the upper bound on strength, limited psyonic ability to alter reality, etc, etc.
The Ultimate X-Men is supposed to be good, but I am not a fan of the artwork in Ultimate Spiderman.
I like Captain America. Ultimate Avengers seems to be well done. I don't like Marvel's Dark Reign or Noir crap they have going on, so I skip that entire section when perusing.
I will give Secret Six a read next Wednesday. Thanks for the heads up.

BN Titans: Agree 100%. Added to that is the fact that I really don't care that much about the Titans anyway. Is Black Hand going to do something with Bruce Wayne's skull other than lick it?
I'll have to check out some of the Ultimates stuff when I hit the comic book shop this coming week. It never hurts to add a few more titles to your list, right?
Note about Secret Six: I think the next one ends an arc, so it may or may not make sense. I vaguely recall that reading somewhere that the writer, Gail Simone, might be taking a few issues off of something. No guarantees on the quality with a different writer.
