So I bought and read Ultimate Avengers #1 & #2. Turns out it wasn't bad. I don't know exactly what's going on, especially in terms of backstory, but it was an enjoyable read. So I'll read a few more issues to see what happens. I might even buy some Ultimates trades. That's the background stuff, right?

Yes, previous volumes of The Ultimates (there are 3) will give you almost all of what you need in terms of backstory.
Ultimates 3 is probably one of the worst piece-of-shit half-assed mindless gory pieces of drivel in the name of comics that has been published. You've been warned. Ultimates 1 & 2 are pretty awesome though, I thought so anyway.

Thanks SEV. I'll check them out. I guess I could always use the internet to get the gist of the backstory.
Anyway, the two I read were pretty good. Thanks to you and mango for recommending them.
